A couple of people have asked about the comment I made the other day about surgery, and one person made a rather “pointed” observation about my slow update schedule this week, particularly in light of the strides I’d made the past few weeks in updating other stories on top of the usual MU load.
The simple fact of the matter is that my roommate—without whose support I couldn’t do what I do—had surgery on her dominant hand on Monday and required a lot of my attention during her initial recovery. She’s going to continue to need help with some things until the dressing can be removed and she has full use of both arms again. This means I have less time for myself, obviously, and when something goes wrong like last night’s (Tuesday’s) power blip, it’s going to have a greater impact. I don’t have as much time to adjust or recover. I’ve made up my mind that I’m not going to screw my sleep schedule in order to make an update… because that leads to more missed updates… and so when I lost most of an almost finished chapter around midnight, I went to bed.
I’m not enabling comments on this post because I’m not interested in hearing anything along the lines of 1) BOO HOO CRY MOAR when I’m not so much as complaining or 2) any demand for pics/proof/further details of my roommate’s situation, and because in light of that fact accepting “You go, AE! You don’t have to take people’s crap! You do what you have to do! You update way more than enough anyway!” posts… which historically would outnumber the negative ones twenty to one anyway… would seem self-serving.
